Mayor Herbert Bautista promotes traffic enforcer who apprehended him for beating the red light →
At around 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, traffic enforcer Sol Botilla stopped Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista, who was not accompanied by security escorts at the time. Botilla said he did not recognize the mayor, whom he thought was a Chinese national. Bautista said in the Inquirer.net report, “He only recognized me when I spoke and acknowledged the (traffic) violation.”
According to Inquirer.net, Bautista asked Botilla to see him in his office the following day but the latter did not go, afraid of being punished. The Monday after, during the city hall’s flag raising ceremony, Bautista commended Botilla, promoting him to supervisor and rewarding him with P10,000.
